Friday, February 3rd The Prince Consort welcomes one of Brisbane’s hottest up-and-coming club nights ‘MNML’ to the Garden Bar for the very first time with headliner Danni B joined by Caleb Jackson, Javo and the Foran Brothers. We caught up with MNML head honcho, Ben Foran, to see what motivates him. Ben started MNML in 2021 in the hopes of promoting true house music to Brisbane, hoping to help grow the scene that has been suffering with a post-covid hangover and falling behind similar scenes in other major cities like Sydney and Melbourne. Ben says “I feel it definitely lacks compared to Sydney and Melbourne. I have always promoted for many events but always had my own vision in mind”.
Ben started DJing when he was 19 and has been lucky enough to learn from some of the scenes more experienced acts while rubbing shoulders with the likes of Casey Spillman and Apollonia, helping to hone his craft. It is this ear for the music and collaboration with tastemakers that has helped Ben maintain the MNML sound and book some genuinely exciting acts for the scene. This instalment sees S*A*S*H resident and owner of Bodywork Danni B take the stage. Known for never failing to get a crowd moving, Danni B can set the tone from the very first track. Joining Danni B is Caleb Jackson who has had a crazy 2022, playing sets at ‘Burning Man’ and the institution that is ‘Lost Sundays’. Rounding out the lineup is the Spanish-born, Brisbane-based Dj/producer Javo along with the Foran Brothers consisting of Jack (Ketttled) and Ben (MNML).
MNML offers unique parties ranging from club events to warehouse parties with the mission of bringing like-minded people with a passion for the music together while also introducing the music to new faces in a safe and inclusive environment. This is a sentiment that we share so it only made sense to get Ben to take over the Garden Bar and show the crowds what the Funktion One sound system can do.
